III. Information about the data processing
General note
Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for its storage ceases to apply, provided the deletion of the same is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations or unless otherwise stipulated below.
Cookies
a) Session cookies
Bard’s uses cookies to make the site more user-friendly and secure. Cookies may temporarily store information such as your browser type or IP address.
These are session cookies that are automatically deleted when you close your browser.
The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, representing our legitimate interest in maintaining a secure and functional website.
b) Disabling cookies
You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. However, please note that disabling cookies may limit some functionality of the site.
Server log data
For technical reasons, the web server automatically collects certain data transmitted by your browser. This includes:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referrer URL (the page from which you came)
- Pages visited on Bard’s
- Date and time of access
- IP address
This data is temporarily stored to ensure the stability and security of the website and is deleted within 7 days unless further storage is needed for security investigation.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure website operation).
Google Analytics
Bard’s uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) via Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Analytics uses cookies to analyze how users interact with the site. Information such as your IP address, time spent, and pages visited may be transmitted to and stored on Google servers in the United States.
To protect user privacy, IP anonymization is enabled on this site, meaning your IP address will be shortened within the European Union or other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, based on your consent.
You may withdraw your consent or disable Analytics cookies anytime via your browser settings.
Tinybird
In addition to Google Analytics, Bard’s also uses its native web analytics feature, powered by Tinybird (Tinybird Inc., USA), to understand website traffic in a privacy-respecting manner.
This analytics system does not use cookies and does not track users across different websites. It anonymously collects only essential information, such as the page URL, referrer, browser type, and operating system.
Your full IP address is never stored. It is processed momentarily to derive a general geographic region and create a temporary, anonymized hash (a “user signature”) to count unique visitors within a 24-hour period, after which the IP address is discarded.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, based on your consent.
Although this system is cookieless, its activation is tied to your overall consent for analytics on this website. Please note that withdrawing consent via the Google Analytics opt-out tool only affects Google Analytics.
Because the Tinybird service is server-side and cookieless, the Google tool cannot stop it. To also object to or withdraw consent for Tinybird’s processing, you must contact us directly at [email protected].
Newsletter and external publishing platforms
Bard’s may share writing updates or essays via Substack or Medium, both of which have their own independent privacy policies.
If you subscribe to updates through these platforms, your data (e.g., email address) is collected and processed directly by the respective provider, not by Bard’s.

Social media and external links
Bard’s may include links to external sites such as Medium, Substack, and X (Twitter).
Clicking these links will direct you to the third-party site. These platforms may collect additional information about you according to their own privacy policies.
When you click an external link, Bard’s does not collect or share your data with these third-party sites.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. However, data transmission over the internet can never be fully secure, and you share data at your own risk.
